23/1 Too cold!
Today, our classroom was moved from 3rd floor to 1st floor. What I was shocked at was the room temperature. It was too cold and we can't change it. What a disaster!
Since Rebecca told us to brig a jacket, we could stand the coldness. However, it's ridiculous wearing a jacket inside the building while outside is extremely hot. It's not good for either environments or health. Thanks to the cold room, I got tired and went back home to rest as soon as the school finished.
After I came home and took some rest, I played with Max, a very cute six-year-old boy, who is Michael and Joan's grandson. He is very shy and doesn't speak a lot, but I know he is a very smart boy, because he loves LEGO!
22/1 Puffing Billy
On Sunday, Joan and Michael drove me to the mountains to see Puffing Billy.
The Puffing Billy railway is a historic steam train that starts at Belgrave and runs through the mountainous region of the Dandenong Ranges.
After this, we went to the training center for scouting near the railway station. Michael explained me a lot about scouting, and met several people concerned.
On the way home, we dropped by a pub and enjoyed Australian beer! (Joan ordered pineapple juice, because she was a driver.)
21/1 Phillip Island
On Saturday, I took a guided tour to see the world-famous nightly parade of the Little Penguins in Phillip Island.
Basically, I choose English tour because I don't want to speak Japanese with Japanese in foreign countries though I made a mistake and the tour was for Japanese. It was a big big mistake because all of the passengers except me were big fun of Nishikori, whom I'm not interested in at all. I wonder why Japanese generally support Japanese athletes simply because they have the same nationality.
(Maybe the reason why I think so is because I was born and grew up outside Japan.)
Anyway, I enjoyed the tour. I could see a lot of animals in a park. on the way to Phillip island.
Phillip island was a very good place. It's far from the city but worth visiting. We can see mother and father penguins walking though the beach to feed their children waiting in the nest.
What impressed me most was the way the staffs in the center worked. They strictly prohibit tourists from taking pictures in order to protect penguins. I think Philip island is one of the few place where strikes a good balance between tourism and wildlife conservation. Probably, WWF is responsible for the success. I respect what my father does.
Since the tour finished in the midnight, I came home by the last train. It was around 1am. Even though Melbourne is said to be one of safest cities, I was scared and I asked a lot of local people how to go home safely. They kindly told me the best way, but I should be careful from now on.
By the way, I saw a lot of demonstrators against Donald Trump in the city.
20/1 meat up with my friend
I was so busy and tired that I couldn't write a diary within the same day this weekend.
Let's review Friday.
In the morning, I bought a pair of sandals because unfortunately my shoes broke on the way to school.
It's only 10 dollars.
After school, I went to Flinders street to meet up with my old friend and his friends from Japan. The time I went there was just after the accident. I could have been killed......
Anyway, we were able to meet and did sightseeing around Melbourne.
I hadn't have talked with people at my age since I arrived here, so I enjoyed very much!
The best combination
Today's plate was Corned beef and mashed potato, and it was unbelievably delicious:)
I think this is one of the best combinations, as we have "Nikujyaga" in Japan.
After dinner, we played Rummikub for more than 5 times, because we couldn't play yesterday.
No Rummikub
Today's dinner.
We didn't play Rummikub this afternoon, because Michael had a meeting at home after dinner. Many people came here and are discussing now.
Japan in Melbourne
After school, I went to BigW, a discount shop. There, I bought some 2B pencils and faber-castell eraser for OET exam. (Faber-castell is my best favorite brand.)
I also got several clothes.
The total amout was......
only $59!!! For 14 items! Good buy:)
On the way to the station, I found a lot of Japanese shops. I'll try sushi some day.
